Volunteer Spotlight: Brian Brunhofer, Taylor Morrison Division President & HomeAid Orlando's Board of Directors’ President
Brian Brunhofer loves the home building industry he’s been a part of for over 25 years, especially the fact that it’s dynamic and ever-changing. “Every day is different, and I find that energizing.” His original introduction to home building “sparked my passion for helping others realize their dream of home ownership and/or working with folks along their journey of finding the right home for them (move-up, downsizing).”
That passion led him to want to give back to the community doing what he does best- helping ensure people have a place to call home. He served on the Board for Habitat for Humanity in the Chicago suburbs where he learned how some people achieve home ownership via a nontraditional path. Upon arriving in Orlando, he first participated in his Division’s monthly outreach event- serving breakfast to clients of the Coalition for the Homeless. “These servings gave me a small glimpse of the issues that our community is facing as it relates to those experiencing homelessness and started me down the path of how best to give back to the community.” Because Taylor Morrison has a strong affiliation with HomeAid America in a number of markets across the country, when he learned that HomeAid was looking to start an affiliate in Orlando, Brian “knew it was an opportunity to jump in and give some of my time to the issues we are facing in the Orlando market.”
The most rewarding part of his years of service for HomeAid Orlando has been working with the dedicated group of volunteers on the HomeAid Orlando Board to make a positive difference for the various agencies. “Visiting many of these facilities gives you an unmatched understanding of how they’re making a difference in people’s lives, and how HomeAid Orlando can continue to help. Being able to share this experience with my family, friends and professional network has led to a quick response of folks getting involved and wanting to help.”
People like Brian are living proof of what can be accomplished when someone is willing to both serve and lead and we’re proud and grateful to have his leadership.
